SkySails Power opens a new investment round in high-altitude wind energy

SkySails Power

Only a limited number of stakeholders are aware that around 80% of global wind potential lies at altitudes above 200 metres. This is the segment targeted by ARE Member SkySails Power’s Airborne Power Station, presented as the world’s first certified, market-ready solution of its kind.

According to SkySails Power, the technology can deliver approximately 5,000 full-load hours at a cost of €0.05/kWh, with baseload capability. The solution is protected by more than 80 patents and has entered the market, with three sites already installed and operational. The company reports an order pipeline exceeding €750 million and estimates the global revenue potential at over €150 billion.

SkySails Power is currently presenting an investment opportunity linked to this technology, under the following indicative terms:

Round size: €12 million, with tickets starting from €250,000

Time window: Closing by the end of February 2026

Outlook: Break-even targeted for 2031; target exit valuation of €1.5 billion

Instrument: Convertible loan via a Luxembourg special purpose vehicle (SPV)

Interest rate: 8.5%

Conversion discount: 20%

Term: 5 years, with repayment at maturity

Further details are available in the company’s pitch deck. SkySails Power indicates that discussions on structure and next steps are conducted on a confidential basis.
