The D-REC Organization

GEECA Foundation is a Swiss non-profit dedicated to advancing energy equity and climate action in emerging markets and developing economies. We focus on Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE) systems and projects to help shift away from fossil-fuel dependence toward clean, reliable, and affordable power for underserved communities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, thereby improving socioeconomic outcomes and enabling a just and equitable energy transition.

Our most advanced application of this approach to date is the D-REC Label for I-REC(E) from DRE projects. It shows how GEECA’s frameworks, governance, and ecosystem enablement can turn DRE outcomes into visible, credible, and financeable options by standardising the evaluation, procurement, and disclosure of high-impact certificates, enabling companies’ sustainability actions to credibly advance both energy access and decarbonisation globally.
