Salary: depending on experience
West Africa: Home office with occasional trips to the UK and regular travel in Africa
Manager: Reporting directly to the CEO
Start Date: January 2026

You will lead key aspects of our investment origination, pre-qualification, and deal execution, with a strong focus on continuous investment management. This is a multi-layered role that requires an impressive blend of financial expertise, business acumen, technical knowledge and renewable energy experience, all with a deep commitment to social and environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Appraisal:
    o Review of agreed pre-qualification data for companies seeking investment.
    o Negotiation and agreement of term sheets and scheduling of due diligence.
    o Responsibility for due diligence exercise, which can comprise financial, legal, technical, commercial and ESG assessments.
    o Identify means to derisk investment through the use of financial covenants, asset coverage and security.
    o Negotiate and close deals, ensuring and sustaining strong relationships with clients.
    o Present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
  • Investment Management:
    o Oversee the investment management process, including regular financial and non-financial covenant monitoring to identify and mitigate risk.
    o Prepare and present regular reports on investment performance.
    o Maintain a proactive, positive relationship with investees.
    o Liaison with other providers of finance.
    o Contribute to the development and improvement of investment processes.
  • Strategic Partnerships:
    o Cultivate and manage relationships with key partners, including match funders, co-investors and industry groups.
  • External Representation:
    o Represent Energise Africa at industry events, conferences, and webinars.
    o Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders.

This role requires a committed individual with a high level of financial and analytical ability, strong communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work remotely as part of a small team.

Skills and experience

  • Excellent financial knowledge and the ability to critically assess complex financial models in Excel – an accounting or similar qualification is necessary.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen.
  • Experience in the renewable energy landscape.
  • Experience with debt funding instruments and security structures.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication.
