Associate Principal – Latin America



Job description

CrossBoundary is recruiting a few full-time Associate Principals to join CrossBoundary in Latin America. As a member of the transaction team, you will actively contribute to a powerful intervention that has the potential for significant impact on investment into Latin America and the Caribbean, in addition to building CrossBoundary’s long term presence in the region.

CrossBoundary is an investment firm. As an Associate Principal, you will identify and evaluate investment opportunities, conduct macroeconomic market assessments, and provide investment transaction support. Associate Principal candidates should have 5+ years of experience working in high-caliber finance or consulting organizations and experience working in developing countries – ideally in Latin America. Interest and expertise in international trade and investment programs will be regarded favourably.

About the role

  • Overseeing technical and operational aspects of the implementation of CrossBoundary’s mandates in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Managing project performance and overseeing reporting of all project activities and results to key program stakeholders.
  • Managing investment facilitation including: Transaction identification and evaluation; Identification and rigorous assessment of investment opportunities; Market assessment and ongoing market analysis.
  • Conducting macroeconomic, regulatory, and operational assessments.
  • Providing sector analysis of priority areas for investment.
  • Investor sourcing.
  • Managing numerous investor relationships.
  • Transaction support.
  • Leading complex transactions.

About you

  • 5+ years in top tier banking, consulting, private equity, or similar.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or another advanced degree strongly desired.
  • Experience working in developing countries.
  • Spanish and English business fluency (Portuguese if located in Brazil).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; preferably in fast-moving and complex environments.
  • Excellent analytical ability and discipline; ability to think clearly, structure problems logically, and then design and implement solutions that focus on the core issue.
  • Excellent quantitative skills; ability to apply analytical rigor to complex and uncertain tasks.
  • Knowledge of corporate finance and familiarity with company evaluation and valuation techniques.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues in stressful environments.
  • Excellent presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to operate effectively in a changing context.
  • Willingness to work and live in a sometimes challenging environment.
  • Knowledge of the Latin American investment landscape (or previous work experience in it).
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders (including private equity firms, Development Finance.
  • Institutions, and development agencies) to support investments in high impact sectors.
