Acciona is looking for an HD Mechanic. The HD Mechanic reports to the Workshop Supervisor/Manager and coordinates, supervises and/or carries out services, repairs and/or maintenance to the plant & equipment of the Geotech Group, predominantly our piling rigs.

This role will see you ensuring that all plant & equipment under your control is serviced and maintained, and available for site use when required. Additionally, you will source and purchase parts and supplies necessary for the efficient operation of said plant & equipment, including critical spares.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to plant & equipment breakdowns by organising to carry out repairs, either in the Workshop or onsite, as the situation demands.
  • Carry out servicing, repairs and/or maintenance to all plant & equipment, including fault finding, both onsite and in the Workshop.
  • Review and action Daily Plant Inspections (DPIs) that note any required servicing, repairs and/or maintenance.
  • Organise routine workshop repairs and/or maintenance.
  • Organise fuel and oil supplies, both in the Workshop and on-site.
  • Maintain an appropriate stock of critical spares and replacement parts for our plant & equipment in the Workshop, both for routine maintenance and to cover unscheduled maintenance or replacements.
  • Audit and/or inspect damaged plant & equipment and back-charge repairs to projects where appropriate.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Qualified Diesel Mechanic with 5+ years’ experience working on various earthmoving and construction equipment, including piling rigs, drilling rigs, excavators, loaders, bobcats, trucks and light vehicles.
  • Rigging (Intermediate) HRW Licence or Dogging HRW Licence.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems associated with plant & equipment, specifically piling rigs.
  • The ability to estimate time and cost implications of both scheduled and emergency maintenance.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Current Driver Licence (Heavy Combination Driver Licence preferred).
