Job description

About the role

  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, classrooms and office space.
  • Prepares vacant space for occupancy and makes necessary repairs/replacements.
  • Repairs damaged walls and doors; paints inside and outside building walls, repairs, assembles and installs furniture. Uses power and hand tools to perform repair and maintenance work.
  • Operates forklifts, dollies and other basic loading and unloading equipment as required.
  • Performs general painting, plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs, such as, unstopping clogged sinks, drains and garbage disposals, resetting circuit breakers.
  • Responds to service requests; documenting and scheduling according to established priorities with supervisor’s and emergency requests considered top priority.
  • Assist with grounds keeping, trash pick-up and fountain maintenance
  • Repairs/replaces any building material.
  • Responds to maintenance requests within scope of responsibility.
  • Identifies, corrects and/or reports any hazardous property conditions as part of the everyday delivery of service.

About the role

  • Evidence of four (4) years of general maintenance and repair experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or training in applicable OSHA workplace requirements including, ladder and safety training, Fire Safety, knowledge of lock out/tag out requirements when working with and around circuit breakers and electrical equipment.
  • Experience in general maintenance of high traffic, large public buildings; repairing and maintaining equipment.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal skills, a pleasant service-oriented disposition, the ability to read and write in order to follow oral and/or written instructions and/or follow up on service requests;
  • Evidence in being self-directed, able to work without close supervision, team oriented.
  • Experience in troubleshooting skills for general repairs and uses sound judgment in carrying out instructions and repairs.
  • Experience in using computer software to create tracking notes and send correspondence; knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite.
