IDRES 2026 – India Distributed Renewable Energy Summit
The India Distributed Renewable Energy Summit (IDRES) 2026 is India’s flagship platform to accelerate the energy transition and advance the Sustainable Development Goals. The summit fosters knowledge exchange not only at the policy level but also through realworld experiences of practitioners, enterprises, and communities deploying DRE solutions.
Over 300 million people still face unreliable or unaffordable electricity. DRE technologies such as solar pumps, dryers, cold storage, oil expellers, biogas plants, and mini-grids and other hybrid energy systems are delivering practical solutions for agriculture, businesses, and rural livelihoods as well as decarbonising the industries paving the path towards a sustainable future.
Yet challenges remain:
- Adoption barriers: Limited awareness among end-users e.g. farmers and entrepreneurs, lack of technical capacity in rural areas, and fragmented supply chains.
- Financing gaps: End-users often cannot afford upfront costs; enterprises struggle to access working capital; investors see high risk in rural markets.
- Policy and market hurdles: Unclear regulations on grid integration, import dependencies, and slow diffusion of proven technologies.
In collaboration with CLEAN, ARE is organising a session ‘India–EU Development Partnership Dialogue’ bringing together policymakers, financiers, enterprises, and end-users to reflect on ground realities and co-create solutions.
