CORE & ARE conclude awareness training for women and agricultural end-users of DRE systems in Madagascar
The awareness campaign, organised by the CORE Initiative and the Alliance for Rural Electrification in collaboration with the local Malagasy NGO Sodiat Foundation and supported by ADEME, took place between 29 April and 4 May 2024. This intensive awareness-raising and demonstration workshop was tailored for the communities of Analavory and Sarobaratra-Ifanja in the Itasy region of central Madagascar, training 84 participants. The group included farmers, fishermen, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, and local government institutions.
The training sessions featured demonstrations of efficient equipment for transforming production, such as water pumps, oiling machines, freezers, and incubators.
The awareness campaign in the Itasy region, focused on promoting equipment for productive uses in the agricultural sector powered by renewable energy, was a success. The rural population benefited from free workshops and hands-on demonstrations, sparking growing interest in green energy. Despite challenges such as investment concerns and financial constraints, recommendations emphasised strengthening partnerships, continuing awareness efforts, and supporting associative initiatives to promote renewable energy adoption in the agricultural sector.
