Smarter Microgrid

SUMMARY OF SMARTER MICROGRID

UNIFIED SYSTEM OF MANAGEMENT FOR MICROGRIDS

With a background in the computer industry since 1980, we began developing sites for 500 kW wind turbines in 2010 and we now own and operate six sites across the UK.

In addition to the community benefits of these installations, the revenues from these wind turbines have enabled us to develop a smart microgrid controller, which was prototyped at one of our UK sites, and is now installed at other sites. It provides a unified system of management for microgrids which enables diverse generators, storage and consumers to be managed effectively and efficiently. Otherwise, by comparison, management of microgrids is cumbersome and costly. The unified management system applies both across the sub-systems of a single microgrid, and also across a large number of microgrids.

It is based on open systems together with the latest edge-devices and modern data communications. As a result, the system is reliable, scalable and resilient, and not only offers comprehensive functionality, but also at a cost that is affordable by rural communities around the world. It is provided and managed by us as a cloud service, so the developer or operator isn’t required to manage the infrastructure. Instead, you can concentrate on managing your installation, using the dashboards, reports and alerts provided by the unified system of management for microgrids.

This is a game-changer in the context of bringing renewable energy to rural communities. It helps to enable the economic development of rural communities, while maximising the use of funding for such projects, and bringing the high levels of effectiveness and efficiency necessary to sustain such initiatives.

We are interested to talk with potential customers and partners about deployments, and further developments, in particular in the context of optimising the benefits for rural communities and their economic development, by maximising Key Performance Indicators and minimising Levelised Cost of Electricity.
