The cdw Stiftung was created in 2012 by the founders of the German solar inverter manufacturer SMA Technology AG. The foundation’s international work aims to promote the development of remote regions in developing countries through the distribution of decentralised renewable energy systems. By designing sustainable and replicable business models for economic activities the foundation strives to increase the added economic value at the community level, enhance local productivity and expand the range of goods and services within a community. All projects focus on empowering local actors as owners and operators of the decentralised renewable energy systems.
