ARE Champions DRE solutions at ACEF’s 20th anniversary
The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) took part in the Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) 2025 held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila between 2-6 June. Marking its 20th anniversary, ACEF reaffirmed its reputation as a pivotal platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in the clean energy space.
The forum featured high-quality presentations, rich technical discussions, and the active participation of stakeholders committed to accelerating energy access and clean energy transitions. The spirit of the event was aimed at strengthening existing partnerships and sparking new forms of cooperation across the Asia-Pacific regions and sectors.
Particularly, ARE contributed to the Spotlight Session: Strategies and Synergies to Overcome Challenges and Realize SDG7, moderated by Dr. Kee-Yung Nam, Principal Energy Economist at ADB, where ARE showcased its 19-year legacy in promoting decentralised renewable energy (DRE) solutions to advance energy access.
ARE also shared powerful, impact-driven case studies from its member base as follows, with examples from the Asia-Pacific, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America & the Caribbean, demonstrating the global applicability and scalability of DRE solutions. The case studies from Skysails, H2 Energy, Turbulent Hydro, COMET, Green Charcoal Uganda, ORPC, Ennos, Innovex, Asantys, Mobility for Africa, Phaesun, nOa Climate were featured during ARE’s presentation.
Overall, ACEF 2025 was an inspiring gathering of like-minded professionals dedicated to achieving last-mile electrification and a sustainable clean energy transition in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. ARE is committed to reinforcing the critical role of DRE in meeting SDG7 in Southeast Asia and bolstering the growing momentum around community-centred, resilient energy systems.
