ARE strengthens Indian–European cooperation at India Distributed Renewable Energy Summit 2026
The India Distributed Renewable Energy Summit (IDRES) 2026 took place in New Delhi on 10-11 February as a flagship forum aimed at accelerating India’s energy transition and advancing the country’s net-zero ambitions. Over two days, the summit brought together national, sub-national and international stakeholders to exchange perspectives on inclusive and climate-responsive energy transitions driven by distributed renewable energy (DRE) solutions.
The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) participated in the summit as the Global Industry Partner, reaffirming its commitment to supporting India’s distributed energy ecosystem. In collaboration with the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, ARE contributed to workshops focused on policy frameworks and implementation pathways for DRE deployment.

A key highlight of ARE’s engagement was the co-hosting of an Indian–European partnership panel featuring industry representatives from Schneider Electric, GSES and CES. The panel showcased concrete examples of cross-regional collaboration and highlighted how distributed renewable energy solutions can play a central role in advancing India’s energy transition.
Through its participation at IDRES 2026, ARE underscored the value of international partnerships and private-sector engagement in scaling DRE solutions, positioning decentralised renewables as a key driver of inclusive growth and climate action in India.
