ARE showcases strong engagement at the OFF-GRID Expo + Conference as the Industry Partner

The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) was proud to participate once again in the Off-Grid Expo + Conference (OEC), held on 30–31 October 2025 in Augsburg, Germany, organised by Messe Augsburg. Over the years, ARE has supported the OEC as its long-standing Industry Partner, helping to shape its content and connect stakeholders across the decentralised renewable energy (DRE) value chain.

This year’s edition featured Kenya as the Partner Country, highlighting the nation’s leadership in renewable energy and off-grid innovation. The event was honoured by the presence of H.E. Stella Mokaya Orina, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Germany, and Mr. Alex Wachira, Principal Secretary for Energy, Ministry of Energy, Kenya. The Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Consumer Protection was also represented by Mr Robert Winkler, reaffirming Bavaria’s support for international energy cooperation.

Representing ARE, Jens Jæger, Director of Policy & Business Development, and Deepak Mohapatra, Senior Officer for Business & Market Development, joined the conference.

As Industry Partner, ARE played a central role throughout the event. The team delivered the opening and closing remarks, moderated the overall conference programme, and organised four high-impact sessions on key themes for the off-grid sector: carbon credits, island electrification and storage, productive use of renewable energy, and commercial and industrial (C&I) in DRE.

ARE Team also met the high-level Kenyan delegation to discuss opportunities for deeper collaboration at the Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF) 2026, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, on 21-24 April 2026.

Additionally, ARE hosted a well-visited booth in the exhibition area, offering visibility to its members and showcasing the winning entries from the ARE Photo Contest, featuring EDP, Phaesun, Asantys Systems, and Off-Grid Europe. A dedicated membership information session was also organised to connect with potential members.

ARE also connected with its existing partners present at OEC 2025, such as UNIDO ITPO Germany, CLEAN India, and SEforALL.

With more than 70 exhibitors and around 900 participants, OEC 2025 once again proved to be an essential meeting point for the off-grid industry. A space where practitioners, investors, and policymakers come together to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and set priorities for the year ahead.

The active participation of many ARE Members, who contributed through exhibits, training sessions, and panel discussions, reflected the strength and diversity of the global off-grid community. ARE is proud to continue supporting the OEC as a platform that fosters dialogue, collaboration, and innovation for sustainable energy access worldwide.
