ARE champions DRE at Global Gateway Forum 2025

The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) represented the decentralised renewable energy (DRE) industry at the Global Gateway Forum 2025 in Brussels on 9–10 October, reinforcing engagement with global leaders to advance clean energy access.

During the Forum, ARE CEO David Lecoque met with World Bank President Ajay Banga and key decision-makers from Africa, the EU, and beyond, together with several ARE Members, to discuss accelerating energy investments and partnerships.

Ahead of the Forum, ARE Director Jens Jaeger contributed to preparatory discussions on conflict- and climate-sensitive infrastructure, attracting strong interest from participants. Moreover, David Lecoque spoke at the Practitioners’ Network Event on Energy Investments in Africa, advocating for greater investment in the DRE sector, and joined a high-level dinner hosted by Jozef Síkela, EU Commissioner for International Partnerships.

ARE reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the Global Gateway framework includes blended finance, equity, grants, and technical assistance as essential instruments to scale up renewable energy access across developing regions.
