ARE Member Enviroearth has completed the installation of six electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in Apia, Samoa, with a trusted local partner. The project combines hybrid and renewable energy systems to support sustainable mobility and strengthen climate resilience in island states.

Each station was designed with site-specific technical solutions. The most advanced installation, located in Mulifanua, features a 76-metre solar carport integrated with a 25 kWp / 75 kWh conversion and storage system. At Tuanaimato, Enviroearth delivered a fully operational charging station in just four months to ensure readiness for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024.

The scope of work included the design, supply, and installation of solar-powered charging stations, shade structures, electronic equipment, and lighting systems. The first station in Tuanaimato was commissioned after a 10-day on-site mission. Enviroearth also coordinated with multiple stakeholders and will provide three years of planned maintenance.

CHOGM Samoa 2024, held under the theme “For the resilience of islands in peril,” gathered 56 Commonwealth leaders, including the King of England. The event underscored the urgent need for resilient, low-carbon solutions in small island states. Enviroearth’s contribution, supported by project lead Alexis Lemetais, showcased how innovative energy systems can meet mobility needs while promoting climate adaptation.

For island nations, participants noted, renewable energy is more than a policy choice; it is a lifeline.
