Brussels and Lisbon, 9 November 2015 - Based on the common belief that the development of decentralised renewable energy systems requires sound, stable and long term policies and regulation that spur private investment and stimulate off-grid renewable energy market development in developing and emerging countries, an MoU has been established between ARE and ALER.

The MoU forms the groundwork of a mutually beneficial collaboration with a focus on decentralised renewable energy solutions applied in Portuguese-speaking developing and emerging countries.

ARE has been was established to attract and unite on a global basis all relevant actors providing solutions for off-grid renewable energy rural electrification in developing and emerging countries in order (1) to speak with one voice about rural electrification with renewable energies, (2)  to generate financial, political and technological recommendations, (3) to educate policymakers and opinion leaders, (4)  to stimulate the development of an enabling investment environment and in particular (5) to increase the deployment of clean decentralised energy technologies.

ALER is a non-profit association with the mission to promote renewable energy in Portuguese-speaking countries aiming to facilitate business opportunities by supporting both public and private sectors in order to create a favourable regulatory framework. ALER’s mission is also to coordinate all stakeholders by creating a cooperation platform and act as the common voice of renewable energies in Portuguese-speaking countries at national and international levels.
