18 January 2013 - Phaesun, Steka Elektronik and SMA have won the prestigious Solar Industry Awards in different categories, as a recognition of their exceptional projects and product innovation during the past years.
Phaesun has received the Project Development Award for their contribution to rural electrification in Ethiopia. In the framework of Plan International, Phaesun supplied and installed solar off-grid systems in cooperation with a local partner for ten schools, ten health posts and three water supply systems in the remote communities of Shebedino District.
Steca Elektronik won the Rural Electrification Development Award for their Steca PF 166 and Steca PF 240 models, two DC energy-savings refrigerators that can also be used as freezers.
Finally, the Solar Award for Excellence was given to SMA Solar UK, creators of the Life Shines Brighter integrated communication campaign, which aims at educating householders in the practical and economic benefits of PV in their daily life. SMA realised that the consumers were not able to understand the technical features of home solar systems and, therefore, they developed a campaign to provide homeowners with the knowledge to choose the most suitable system for their needs. SMA UK has also made the unique step of entering Business-to-Consumer marketing and advertising, rather than the more common Business-to-Business approach.
