Francophone Venture Capital Analyst (intership)
Job description
We are seeking analysts to join us in Paris and/or Dakar for 6-12 months. The role would include supporting advisory work, market analysis, due diligence and deal origination for our portfolio of potential or existing companies and clients.
About you
The successful candidate will be looking to build an investment-focused career and have several or all of the following attributes:
- Excellent undergraduate degree in science, finance or engineering
- Needs to have spent time studying or working overseas
- Highly analytical and highly numerate
- Details oriented
- Public speaker – can effectively communicate his honest opinions
- Highly entrepreneurial self-starter
- Very strong financial modelling skills
- Project finance/infrastructure expertise
- Venture Capital/Private Equity experience
- Excellent communications and English writing ability
- The successful candidate must show compelling evidence of drive and success throughout their academic and non-academic activities to date
- 6 to 18 months relevant work experience from a Tier 1 institution is a prerequisite, ideally in French speaking African countries
- Fluent at least in French and English
- Can travel to Central and West Africa
About the role
The analyst will assist the partners in the following:
- Sourcing and initial screening of potential investments
- Market reviews and research
- Preparation and pitching of investment proposals
- Due diligence including assessment of financial, operational, social and environmental performance (financial modelling, ESG evaluation and action plans)
- Deal structuring including drafting term sheets and other legal documents as well as financial analysis
- Post-investment portfolio support and monitoring
- Other duties as appropriate
