Role brief

This position will be responsible for architecting solutions for microgrid and distributed energy resource (DER) projects as well as supporting sales/business development activities for emerging power & control technologies.

 

About the role

This individual will work closely with the sales team, application engineering, proposal development team, and the customer to ensure that the solutions proposed meet the customer's objectives and expectations. Customer responses will require system overview descriptions, scope of work, bill of material, engineering services, and project pricing.

The position will often manage the team collaborative process that produces important RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses, as well as unsolicited proposals and intermediate documents like feasibility studies, rough order of magnitude (ROM) documents, and equipment quotations. This includes ensuring the diverse group of content creators meet deadlines. Drawing out the best from the project development team, without having mastery of all technical aspects is a necessary skill. Persistency, proactivity, communication, relationship building, and persuasion are essential. Studying relevant Schneider Electric past performance and competitive marketing communication is a key to success in this role.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and/or assist in developing the following: conceptual designs, RFP/RFI/RFQ responses, proposals, and quotes that ensure attainment of sales revenue, profitability margin, and customer satisfaction for Microgrid/DER Advanced Solutions.
  • Qualify potential customers using energy modeling tools and cash flows to appropriately size DER assets for financial return.
  • Present solutions to the customer in tandem with a sales/business development lead or alone.
  • Conduct regular updates with geographically based Microgrid business development and Field Sales offices to build cross-functional subject matter expertise, understand training and development needs, and provide insight for the improvement of sales and activity performance.
  • Coordinate with clients to obtain relevant project information under a deadline. Maintaining a flexible work schedule around due dates is strongly encouraged.
  • Mentor peers and front office on microgrid solution topics.
  • Collaborate with execution teams to continuously improve while driving profitability, efficiency, innovation, and growth.

 

About you
 

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in energy and sustainability solution development; 2-5 years of experience in sales or sales engineering.
  • Four (4) year degree in a related field; Master in Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, or Environmental Management preferred.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics related to distributed energy resources.
  • Renewable energy experience.
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical systems including ability to read electrical SLDs.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.
  • Adobe Professional.
  • Microsoft Visio.
  • Willingness to travel ~20%.

Preferred:

  • Experience with bFO & SEAdvantage.
  • Experience in onsite execution of electrical generating systems.
  • Understanding of power measurement, control, and automation principles.
  • Understanding of inverters, energy storage, reciprocating generator control and protection components, grid tied and off-grid wind/solar renewable generation, and PLC auto-throwover configurations. 
  • Competent in LV and MV electrical power equipment, PLC controls, network communications, SCADA and database software, load management and intelligent fast load shedding and systems engineering.
  • Experience with power system engineering (load flow studies, transient stability analysis, frequency stability), protection coordination, distributed generation sequence of operations.
  • Understanding of Schneider Electric solutions & value propositions system wide solution implementation which may include Power SCADA and power quality monitoring, ADMS, substation automation and segment knowledge for data centers, health care and university campuses.
