The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) will be hosting its third annual ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) on 22-24 October in Accra, Ghana. This year’s venue will be the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City.

This year’s forum also marks a special relationship with two partners with a demonstrated  commitment to sustainable communities around the world: Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE), the off-grid industry association consisting of more than 120 members active in Africa to deliver innovative clean energy solutions; and GET.invest, a European programme that mobilises renewable energy investments.

ESEF2019 will raise awareness about the progress made by member countries in the region in the quest to achieve the goals set for 2020 and 2030. Also, the challenges faced by the private sector in developing projects will be highlighted. However, ESEF2019 will be geared toward facilitating business deals and promoting investment.

Therefore, ESEF2019 will be a demand-driven and result-oriented event, where participants take a detailed look at the challenges facing the sector; how they are being overcome and where the opportunities lie for speeding up the implementation of game-changing projects.

The forum will be divided into different sessions supported by thematic areas to cater for all expected stakeholders. This is what really makes ESEF the regional marketplace for sustainable energy.

Key themes:

  • Showcase investment opportunities in sustainable energy sector in the 15 member states.
  • Enhance regional cooperation and trans-border power trade from renewable sources.
  • Highlight technological progress in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors.
  • Facility business collaborations through dedicated B2B sessions in the utility-scale and off-grid electrification marketplace.
  • Demonstrate regional energy efficiency potential.
  • Promote knowledge-sharing beyond the region.

ESEF2019, will foster concrete progress in the implementation of the ECOWAS region’s ambitious sustainable energy targets by bringing together major actors from within and outside the region and will demonstrate the region as the frontier for a viable sustainable energy market.
