The Africa Energy Forum: Off the Grid is co-located with the East Africa Energy and Infrastructure Summit, taking place in Kampala from the 6 to 8 February, 2018, and held with the official endorsement of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development for Uganda.

The forum will focus on the topical issues concerning rolling out off-grid projects across Africa, presenting the current project opportunities and building on the outcomes of the first successful Africa Energy Forum: Off the Grid, held in December 2016.

The programme will examine themes such as tackling risk in financing off grid projects, the growth of energy storage, the future of home solar technology, mapping off grid developments, financing off grid projects and inspiring community engagement with micro-grid development.

Amongst those already confirmed to participate are the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum for Kenya, the World Bank, KfW, Power Africa, Electricity Regulatory Authority (Uganda), UMEME, DLA Piper, Shell New Energies, OPIC, M-KOPA, ENGIE Africa, Energise Africa and Fieldstone.

Please download the programme here for further details.

In addition, the co-located East Africa Energy and Infrastructure Summit will unite regional governments from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Ethiopia, leading utility and regulatory companies from the region, as well as international financiers, donor organisations and power developers to focus on what is needed to unlock investment in energy and infrastructure for regional growth and development.
