Engineering Manager – Wind



Job description

Collaborate actively in the development of engineering designs in the different phases: pre-design, basic engineering design and executive project of the Wind and/ or PV Plants in coordination with local and corporate teams assuring the most optimized designs and the inclusion of all technical specifications in their most updated version to guarantee technical suitability and technical and economic efficiency.

This role will also carry out various engineering tasks such as performing calculations to ensure the systems meet the global safety standards and collaborating with site teams to solve emerging issues.

About you

Engineering Management:

  • Overseeing the development of engineering designs across various stages of the project, ensuring technical feasibility, and adherence to technical standards.
  • Evaluating and justifying deviations from technical standards for the project’s technical solvency and economic efficiency.
  • Initiating innovative engineering processes and encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Facilitating effective communication between local teams and corporate areas for best practices implementation.

Engineering Specialized Support:

  • Providing technical support for project specifications, ensuring compliance with standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Supporting tender processes and negotiations to achieve the best technical and economic conditions.
  • Studies Coordination: Coordinating and validating essential studies for integration into engineering projects to minimize construction-related risks.
  • Providers and Supplier Management: Establishing relationships with suppliers to incorporate efficient technical and economic options into engineering designs.
  • Common Standards: Ensuring the application of common standards and their adaptation to local regulations to maximize investment efficiency while maintaining technical integrity.
  • Company Policy and Legal Compliance: Implementing and enforcing policies related to occupational hazards, environmental compliance, and quality within the designated tasks.
  • EDPR Interests Representation: Representing the company in dealings with public and private institutions to advocate for the company’s interests.

About you

  • Knowledge of power transmission systems, medium and high voltage substation electrical equipment, underground distribution systems, dynamics and stability modeling of Power Pools, the Interconnection.
  • Ability to converse and communicate in English language.
  • Knowledge of Power System software is an advantage.
  • Substation Commissioning and test experience is an advantage.
  • User level of office software.
  • Value alignment: proactiveness and problem solving skills, collaboration, innovation and with a spirit of excellence.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in planning, engineering and design of projects for wind farms and/or BESS, substations and high voltage lines.
  • Experience in the permitting process of the above works is desirable.
  • Experience in managing and supervising of engineering projects
  • Experience in coordination and planning in engineering teams and external engineering companies.
  • Renewable Energy and/or Power utility experience is preferred.
