Winch Energy Ltd. is currently looking for an Electrical Engineer specialised in the design and implementation of mini-grid projects to join our London based team. The role includes:
Designing standardised and customised off-grid modular electrical systems (PV-battery, PV-battery-diesel and diesel-PV hybrid) with emphasis on rural applications, both low and medium voltage off-grid power lines, protection against atmospheric discharges and electrical panels.
Detailed designing and cost sharing of systems generation and energy distribution.
Providing support with bids, evaluating estimates, managing contractors during cost analysis and during installation and commissioning phases.
Selecting and developing subsystems, including monitoring and measurement systems.
Providing engineering support to local operational teams, especially regarding O&M processes for installed systems and performance monitoring.
Willingness to be seconded for a defined period to our engineering hub in Sicily an advantage.
University degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering
At least 3 years of experience in the solar & battery industry
Knowledge of off-grid configurations
Ability to use main software tools, including Homer Pro, PVsysts, AutoCAD, TiSystem, TiQuadri metering and monitoring software packages
Ability to do electrical calculations and implement technical knowledge in energy systems, preferably photovoltaic, batteries, diesel and other relevant norms
Practical experience with electrical supply systems or a similar required technical field
Experience with contractor management
Ability to work with multidisciplinary and international teams in several locations
Fluent in English
Knowledge of professional spoken and written French and/or Italian would be an advantage
Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa would be an advantage
