Job description

As an electrical engineer, you will work in team together with the software, mechanical and other electrical engineers in Turbulent. Your prime responsibility will be Electrical R&D for our next generation of turbines. Core activities will be the following:

  • Scaling the electrical system in both volume and size:
  • Adapting the power & control system designs for large volume series production.
  • Follow up on the pcb development of our control solution.
  • Preparing the electrical systems for certification in different markets worldwide.
  • Enhance and extend our control application.
  • Unifying the off- and on-grid electrical systems to use the same generator and control system.
  • R&D on putting turbines in series and parallel and the implications on the control system.
  • Developing a solution for generators that can be placed under water in cooperation with our suppliers.

Besides R&D, you will as well support the operations department:

  • Quality control of the turbine power and control systems
  • Deployments and commissioning at customer site of turbines
  • Technical support of installed turbines (on site and remote)


The job requires the academic degree of electrical, electromechanical or electronic engineer, equivalent to the Belgian degree of “Burgerlijk ingenieur” or “Industrieel ingenieur”. As Turbulent is an international company your level of English must be excellent. Ideally you have 2-3 years of experience in the production and design of industrial electrical systems, engineering of motor/generator control systems and production and design of PCBs. You have a good knowledge of industry practices in these fields and know how to use CAD software, preferably AutoCAD Electrical as well. Since there will be a lot of prototyping involved, you must have a practical mindset.

Experience in the programming of PLCs in structured text and controllers in C++ are a plus.

Practical experience in building electrical setups for remote energy supply is a plus.
