Key Responsibilities 

As Data Science Associate, you would be in a critical role advancing our company’s data technology and processes. Your responsibilities would include:

  • Generating analyses from live data feeds across disparate sources with our proprietary big data analytics platform
  • Customising our data solutions to the needs of our clients, who are conducting exciting and rigorous analyses on operating distributed energy systems in Africa
  • Supporting the continual ingestion and transformation of data from external APIs and files
  • Developing systems to proactively and reactively ensure the quality of the high volumes of data within our database
  • Writing scripts to process data as required for ad-hoc analyses
  • Communicating results of analyses succinctly with high-value clients when necessary
  • Interfacing with the software development team to integrate QA systems you have developed into our codebase



You are a motivated self-starter who loves data! You are also highly collaborative and excel at communicating with your colleagues. You can break down complex ideas and questions into clear, articulate results, and you are highly committed to data quality and integrity. And you are motivated to bring access to electricity to millions of people around the world who do not have it.

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum); Master’s degree preferred in data science or similar

  • Experience with data analysis frameworks and analytic tools such as Python, R or Matlab

  • Ability to manage and query large datasets using SQL; experience with nonrelational databases, especially Elasticsearch, preferred

  • Attention to detail, and an ability to adapt to new approaches

  • Experience with machine learning a plus

  • Coursework in energy/electrical engineering a plus

  • Excellent communication skills in English



The location for this position is flexible. The team is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, and you must be available to collaborate with the US team during the morning MDT.
